lingblisstics

The difference between the almost right word and the right word is the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning.
Mark Twain

It's hard to think of any situation comparable to when the exact right word you need appears in your mind, perfectly capturing the thought you want to convey. It's like blindly reaching for a tool you need and finding that it's right there, fitting into your palm and ready to be wielded.  Then I fell upon this Twain quote today and found that he just nailed it, as he so often did.
